HP Norway – dynamic pricelist

HP Norge used to print and distribute a 700 page price list, 10 times a year to their Norwegian retailers. Through my employer Visendi I was given the task of converting this massive publication into an electronic readable format.

Different solutions were discussed. Through interviews with the the people working with the list and it’s users, we concluded the best solution would be to create a website. This would fasciliate and simplify searching, updating and PDF-pullouts from the list.

Open source CMS Joomla was chosen as the backbone for the site, but a new component was written to handle the content. This component also automatically produces the content through conversion of user uploaded spreadsheets in XLS-format. Another component converts the content to downloadable indexed and linked pdfs.

Searching is especially smooth on the site with an ajax-based, live updated search function.
